Who keeps the chart.

CoolStrike is an infrastructure company in Oslo. We own the hardware in all sixteen cities, we answer our own support mail, and we publish what the network does rather than what it could do on a good day.

The office

A small company that owns its own metal

We started in 2019 with two racks in Oslo and a customer who was tired of paying for bandwidth in a currency they could not predict. The network grew city by city, each one added because somebody's users were there — never because it looked good on a map.

That is still how it works. There is no reseller layer underneath us and no capacity rented from somebody else's cloud. When a station misbehaves, the person who fixes it is on our payroll, and when you write to support, an engineer reads it.

How does anycast actually decide where my visitor lands?

It does not decide — the internet does, and that is the point. The same address is announced from all sixteen stations, and each network along the way picks the route it considers shortest under BGP. A visitor in Tampere reaches Helsinki because their ISP's path to Helsinki is the cheapest one it knows.

The honest caveat: BGP measures hops and policy, not milliseconds, so occasionally a route is short on paper and slow in practice. We watch for that, and when we find one we adjust our announcements rather than pretending it cannot happen.

Do you support custom SSL configurations?

Yes. SAN certificates are issued and renewed automatically by default, which suits most people. If you need your own chain, upload a PEM bundle in the dashboard and it reaches every station in under a minute.

You can also pin a stricter profile than our default — a minimum of TLS 1.3, a restricted cipher list, or mandatory OCSP stapling — per hostname rather than for the whole account.

What happens to a request when a station goes down?

The station withdraws its BGP announcement, so within a few seconds that address stops being routed there and traffic lands at the next-nearest site. Sessions in flight are cut and retried by the client; sessions that have not started never notice.

In practice this means a station failure costs affected users a handful of milliseconds of extra latency, not an outage. The capacity is sized so that the loss of any one core site is absorbed by its neighbours.

How do I move away if this does not work out?

Change the CNAME back. Your origin was serving the content the whole time — we never became the only copy of anything, and there is no proprietary format to unpick.

Configuration exports as JSON, logs are yours to keep, and we do not hold the last month hostage behind a cancellation notice. A trial that ends simply stops.

Send the hostname you want to accelerate and the origin behind it to support@coolstrike.site. We reply with an account and a target hostname, usually the same day.

Step 02

Point a CNAMELow TTL first

Drop the TTL to 60 s, point the record at the hostname we gave you, and watch the first cache fill. If you dislike what you see, the change is one minute from being undone.

Step 03

Read your own numbersNot ours

The dashboard shows p50 and p95 per station for your traffic, alongside the cache hit ratio. The figures printed on the chart are the network average — yours are the ones that decide it.
